On the 10th of January 1998 is in the IJsselhallen in Zwolle the first selection of Gelderlander stallions (and harnessed stallions), followed by the second and third selection on th 6th and 7th of February in the Brabanthallen in 's-Hertogenbosch.
The KWPN stock breeding direction hold the opinion that for the Gelderlander breeding an expansion of the numbers of bloodlines urgently is required and stallions with a completely different blood decendancy will have to be approved.
Because of this there will be a very particular young stallion at the selection namely Nachtvorst, the only Gelderlander son of the Groninger stud stallion Loek. Loek was born in 1970 from a Gelderlander father and mother, but you can't find any other blood decendants in the present day Gelderlander stock breeding.

The mother of Nachtvorst is an in perfect good health 14-years old Gelderlander star mare with excellent gaits, only used for recreation and breeding. A sister of her is a Z-jumping horse. The maternal grandsire of Nachtvorst is the wellknown Gelderlander keur stallion Goudsmid, an international jumping horse that has cleared obstacles of more than 2 meters in height. He retained in very good health until he died, 25-years old.
The keur mare Wilmavivera, grandmother of Nachtvorst, is a Z-jumping horse and still is in perfect good health at the age of 18. Her father is the Gelderlander keur stallion Gondelier, a successfull jumping horse himself and the best conveyor of jumping talent of the Gelderlander breeding stock.
Giving birth to her daughter Tinavivera was damaged; she was a full sister of the KWPN stud stallion Orion, who not yet 4 years old won a puissance for stud stallions over 1.60 meter in height and who at the age of 17 years still was successfull in DM-dressage; their mother and grandmother were star preferent and both of them attained a IBOP-A degree for performance testing as well.
Nachtvorst is a combination of versatile Gelderlander performance quality's, which have to be preserved. Nachtvorst has a chic exterior, a docile character and excellent gaits.
